Inhalt Kurzfassung

Der junge Santiago Román kämpfte mehrere Jahre in einer Eliteeinheit der peruanischen Marine gegen terroristischen Aufstand, Drogenhandel und das Nachbarland Ekuador. Jetzt kehrt er nach Lima zurück, in eine chaotische und kaputte Gesellschaft und Familie. Er sehnt sich nach einem „normalen“ Leben mit Arbeit und Familie. Santiago will seine militärische Vorstellung von Ordnung durchsetzen. Doch niemand hat auf ihn gewartet und seine Erinnerungen an die Gewalt lassen ihm keine Ruhe.

Santiago Roman, a rugged, 23-year-old soldier of the Peruvian Navy, returns home to Lima after years of fighting in the jungle. Combat-weary and searching for hope, Santiago is a member of a lost Peruvian generation – his spirit scarred by futile wars with Ecuador and constant fighting against terrorists and drug traffickers. He quickly finds his native Lima an unwelcoming place – his army buddies have taken to bankrobbing; the decadent club scene offers only noise and lights; prospective employers won’t hire him; his applications for credit are refused. But worst of all, Santiago learns that his friends, family, and young, professional wife have become decadent or distant—and that they are, each in unique ways, unable to understand him. As his troubles converge in the film’s riveting climax, DIAS DE SANTIAGO asks the question, what escape for a discharged soldier, who returns home full of hope, but finds only disappointment and inner turmoil?

Santiago Román, un ex-soldado de 23 años ha vuelto a Lima después de años de haber luchado contra la subversión terrorista y el narcotráfico en su propio país y en la guerra con el Ecuador. Forma parte de una generación perdida que pagó culpas por las irresponsabilidades políticas de los gobiernos. Santiago encuentra en Lima a una ciudad hostil, caótica, decadente y a una familia que la refleja. Está decidido a mejorar su propia situación lo mismo que la de su familia y de su país. Santiago está intentando adaptarse a la vida civil pero sus recuerdos no lo dejan encontrar paz consigo mismo. Tiene la mentalidad de un soldado, y cree que sólo basta luchar para conseguir todo lo que se quiere. Intenta establecer su propio sentido de orden. La sociedad y la gente, sin embargo, se mueven en sus propios ritmos. No lo esperaban y ya no tienen un lugar para él. Santiago toma conciencia que las cosas no son como él quería verlas.
